The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) on December 01, 2025, issued the amendments in Paras 4.87 (a) and 4.88 of the Handbook of Procedures 2023.
The following has been stated namely: -
• The amended Paragraphs 4.87(a) and 4.88 relate to personal carriage of gems and jewellery for export and import. The key change is the addition of Ahmedabad Airport to the list of permitted airports for both export and import movement of jewellery parcels by foreign-bound passengers and eligible importers.
• All other procedural requirements remain unchanged, including that export proceeds shall be realized through normal banking channels and imports shall follow standard customs examination and clearance procedures.
• The amendment is effective immediately and continues to apply to EOU/SEZ units and Domestic Tariff Area (DTA) firms under existing conditions.
