The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), on November 28, 2025, issued the Reserve Bank of India (Urban Co-operative Banks - Branch Authorisation) Directions, 2025.
The following has been amended namely:-
• Splitting of branches or part shifting of some of the departments of parent office/branch can be made to a near by location within the same locality / municipal ward due to space constraints and for better customer service or for convenience of the members, irrespective of the distance vis-à-vis other offices/banks, without prior permission of RBI subject to the condition that identical business is not conducted from both the premises.
• A post-facto report to this effect, in the format as mentioned in paragraph 12 above, shall be submitted to the Regional Office concerned within one month from the date of shifting, using the Pravaah portal.
