The Ministry of Coal, on November 28, 2025, issued a notification regarding the methodology for evaluation and approval of exploration programs and Geological Reports.
The following has been stated: -
•The Ministry of Coal has revised the procedure for evaluating exploration programs and Geological Reports prepared by Accredited Prospecting Agencies (APAs).
•Such reports, once peer-reviewed by another APA and compliant with the MMDR Act, Mineral Concession Rules, and related guidelines, will be treated as approved.
•After peer review, final Geological Reports must be submitted to CMPDIL for updating national coal and lignite resource inventories.
