Industry Specific ComplianceThe Department of Telecommunications (DoT) on December 01, 2025, issued a notification regarding the mandatory pre-installation of the Sanchar Saathi App to combat Fake Mobile Devices.

The following has been stated: -

•The Department of Telecommunications has mandated that all mobile manufacturers and importers pre-install the Sanchar Saathi app on devices sold in India, ensuring full functionality during setup.

•Existing devices should also enable the app through software updates, with implementation required within 90 days and compliance reports within 120 days.

•The mandate aims to curb fake and tampered IMEI devices, strengthen telecom cybersecurity, and support reporting of fraud, lost phones, and suspicious telecom activity.

•Sanchar Saathi enables users to verify handset authenticity and access safety tools, helping prevent misuse and resale of stolen or counterfeit devices.
