Industry Specific ComplianceThe Government of Karnataka on February 15, 2025, notified regarding the printing of product names in Kannada on goods manufactured in the government and private sectors in Karnataka.

The following has been stated namely: -

• It states that all industrial and consumer products manufactured and sold within the state — whether from public or private sector — shall display the product name and usage instructions in Kannada, along with any other language already used. 

• This mandate is issued under the Karnataka Comprehensive Development of Kannada Language Act, 2022, which came into force on March 12, 2024, to promote the use of Kannada in commerce, production, and daily life. 

• Authorities designated under Section 9 of the Act are instructed to monitor strict compliance. The move aims to strengthen Kannada’s role in business, markets, manufacturing, and consumer rights across Karnataka.
