The National Stock Exchange of India Limited (NSE), on December 02, 2025, announced enhancements to the encryption framework and message-handling process for the Commodity Derivatives (CO) Segment, extending the security architecture earlier introduced in the Currency Derivatives segment. Building on the TLS 1.3 and AES-256–based solution implemented via circular NSE/MSD/59984 (28 December 2023), NSE now introduces AES-256 GCM encryption with authentication and immediate order acknowledgements for enhanced security and transparency in order processing.
The circular outlines a coexistence phase, during which both the old and new encryption mechanisms will operate before eventual discontinuation of the existing system. Key implementation dates include December 13, 2025, for release of new interactive parameters and the NEAT Adapter version 1.0.23 supporting the enhanced encryption. Discontinuation dates for older versions (NEAT Adapter 1.0.20 and existing NNF encryption) will be communicated separately. Clear configuration parameters—including gateway IPs, ports for old and new encrypted flows, and applicability for NEAT and NNF users—are specified to ensure a smooth migration.
Members using NNF API protocols may continue with their existing CA certificates. Updated implementation guidance is available in the CO NNF API Document (Version 6.3) hosted on the NSE website. Additional details applicable to NEAT Adapter users will follow through separate communications, ensuring members are fully supported in transitioning to the stronger encryption and quicker order acknowledgment architecture.
