The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers (MCF), on November 28, 2025, issued an order under section 16 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016, rescinding the earlier Methyl Acrylate and Ethyl Acrylate (Quality Control) Order, 2021. The action follows consultation with the Bureau of Indian Standards and is based on the Government’s assessment that withdrawal of the order is required in the public interest.
Through this rescission, the mandatory quality control norms and BIS certification requirements previously applicable to Methyl Acrylate and Ethyl Acrylate under notification S.O. 5406(E), dated December 22, 2021, stand annulled. This change immediately removes compliance obligations imposed by the 2021 Quality Control Order on manufacturers, importers, and suppliers of these chemicals.
The order takes effect instantly and restores the regulatory status to what prevailed prior to the 2021 notification, providing regulatory relief and flexibility to relevant stakeholders in the chemical sector.
