Industry Specific ComplianceThe University Grants Commission, on December 03, 2025, issued a notification regarding the Implementation of the Learn One More Bharatiya Bhasha Initiative under NEP 2020.

In alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which strongly advocates multilingualism to promote national integration, cultural unity, and inclusive growth, the Bharatiya Bhasha Samiti (BBS) has recommended the initiative “Learn One More Bharatiya Bhasha” for all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).

The objective of the initiative is to motivate students, faculty, staff, and local communities to learn an additional Indian language—preferably from a different state or region—to enhance cross-cultural understanding, national cohesion, and employability, contributing to the broader vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047.

BBS, in consultation with stakeholders, has prepared comprehensive guidelines that include:

• Types of language courses HEIs should offer

• Target groups for each course

• Recommended learning resources and materials

• Criteria and identification of trainers

• Execution strategies for effective implementation

• Incentives for learners and participating stakeholders

All HEIs are instructed to implement these guidelines fully and sincerely to promote multilingual learning across campuses.

Please refer to the guidelines mentioned in the document attached below.
