The Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) on December 03, 2025, notified regarding the mandatory ESIC Registration for Educational Institutions under the Code on Social Security, 2020.
The following has been stated namely: -
• The Government of India has brought the Code on Social Security, 2020 into nationwide effect from November 21, 2025, consolidating multiple social-security laws to extend medical and financial protection to employees across all sectors, including education.
• All educational institutions—government-aided, unaided, private schools, colleges, and affiliated learning establishments—meeting eligibility criteria are now mandated to register with ESIC. Institutions shall register themselves as establishments, enroll all eligible employees, and ensure timely contribution payments to enable workers to access ESIC benefits.
• Authorities have been instructed to compile and submit a list of all covered educational institutions and issue formal compliance directives.
