The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) on December 3, 2025, issued a notification withdrawing several Indian Standards under Rule 15(1) of the Bureau of Indian Standards Rules, 2018. These standards stand cancelled from the dates specified in the schedule.
The withdrawn standards include: IS 2429 (Part 1):1987 relating to round steel short link chains for lifting purposes; IS 2581:2002 covering round strand galvanized steel wire ropes for shipping; IS 2759:1969 specifying higher tensile steel point hooks; IS 7245:1974 for concrete pavers; and IS 9542:1980 relating to horizontal centrifugal monoset pumps for clear, cold, fresh water.
All five standards were formally withdrawn effective 19 November 2025, thereby discontinuing their applicability for certification, compliance, or reference under the BIS framework.
