Industry Specific ComplianceThe Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on December 5, 2025, issued an order withdrawing a specific instruction contained in its earlier communication dated January 20, 2025, related to weekly rest provisions for airline personnel.

The earlier instruction had stated that “no leave shall be substituted for weekly rest.” Following operational disruptions and multiple representations from airlines citing the need for continuity and operational stability, the DGCA has reviewed the matter to ease administrative and staffing challenges within the aviation sector.

As a result, the DGCA has withdrawn the above instruction with immediate effect, allowing greater flexibility for airlines in managing weekly rest and leave arrangements. This decision has been issued with the approval of the Competent Authority.
