The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) on December 04, 2025, notified regarding the Implementation of PMFME.
The following has been stated namely: -
• The government reports that under PMFME, financial and technical assistance in line with credit-linked subsidy has been sanctioned to 1,61,072 micro-food-processing units, along with support to 1,363 Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and 236 Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) as of October 31, 2025.
• The scheme follows the One District One Product (ODOP) approach: at least one product per district is selected, branded, and promoted, with 726 districts across 35 States/UTs already onboard — including GI-tagged and region-specific products.
• Assistance under PMFME includes 35% credit-linked capital subsidy (up to ₹10 lakh per unit) for new micro-enterprises; seed capital for SHGs; infrastructure subsidy (up to ₹3 crore) for common facilities; plus branding, marketing support, and capacity building/training for entrepreneurship and food-processing skills.
• The scheme aims to formalize and strengthen the unorganised food-processing sector, improve food-value chains, reduce post-harvest losses, boost rural employment, and help local producers integrate with modern supply chains, retail, and institutional markets.
