The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) December 04, 2025, issued the Hand Tools (Quality Control) Order, 2025.
The following has been stated namely: -
• Goods or articles shall conform to the Indian Standard specified and shall bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau as per Scheme-1 of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
• The Bureau shall be the certifying and enforcing authority
• Any person who contravenes the provisions of this order shall be punishable under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016
• The Goods are: -
o Pipe Wrenches-General Purpose
o Pipe Wrenches Heavy Duty
o Open-Jaw Wrenched (Spanners)
o Ring Wrenches (Spanners)
This shall come into force is namely: -
o General (other than micro and small enterprises) – October 01, 2026
o Small enterprises – January 01, 2027
o Micro enterprises – April 01, 2027
