Labour ComplianceThe Government of Madhya Pradesh on December 01, 2025, issued the Madhya Pradesh Shops and Establishments (Second Amendment) Bill, 2025, to further amend the Madhya Pradesh Shops and Establishments Act, 1958.

The following has been stated namely: -

• The following has been substituted for section 6 namely: -

"(1) Every establishment to which this Act applies shall be registered in accordance with the provisions of this section of the founders

(2) Within thirty days from the date on which this Act comes into force in any establishment, the employer thereof shall make an application in the prescribed form along with such fee as may be prescribed on the portal, containing the following, namely: -

(a) the name of the employer, manager and person holding a managerial position, if any:

(b) the postal address of the establishment and the date on which the establishment commenced business;

(c) the name of the establishment, if any:

(d) the category of the establishment, that is to say, whether it is a shop, commercial establishment, hotel with residence, restaurant, eating house, theatre or other place of public amusement or entertainment; and

(e) such other details as may be prescribed”

• The following has been substituted for section 7 namely: -

"It shall be the duty of the employer to update any change in respect of any information contained in his statement under section 6 in the prescribed form within seven days of such change on the portal. On such update, the portal shall make the change in the register of establishments and generate a revised registration certificate or, if necessary, a fresh registration certificate."

• The following has been substituted for section 8 namely: -

"The employer shall update the closure of such establishments on the portal within ten days of closure of his establishment. Upon update, such establishments shall be removed from the register of establishments by the portal and the portal generated registration certificate shall be cancelled."
