The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) on December 03, 2025, issued the notification regarding the Implementation of Code on Social Security, 2020.
The following has been stated namely: -
• From 21 November 2025, all four Labour Codes, including the Code on Social Security, 2020, come into effect across India, making labour laws modern, simplified, and aligned with current workforce needs.
• Under the First Schedule of the Code, the ESI Scheme now applies to all establishments (including educational and medical institutions) employing 10 or more persons. These institutions must comply with ESI provisions from November 21, 2025.
• Unregistered educational/medical institutions must immediately register online on the Shram Suvidha Portal or ESIC Employer Portal. Employers (including contractors engaged by them) must ensure ESIC contribution payment and facilitate ESI benefits for all eligible employees.
