The Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare (MoA&FW) on December 09, 2025, issued a notification regarding the Increase in the Minimum Support Prices.
The Government annually determines the Minimum Support Prices (MSPs) for 22 mandated agricultural crops based on recommendations from the Commission for Agricultural Costs & Prices (CACP), after considering inputs from State Governments and relevant Central Ministries. Following the 2018–19 Union Budget announcement, MSPs have been fixed using a policy of ensuring farmers receive at least 1.5 times the cost of production.
In line with this principle, the Government has consistently increased MSPs for all mandated Kharif, Rabi, and commercial crops from 2018–19 onward, ensuring a minimum return of 50% over the all-India weighted average cost of production. The comparative details of MSP increases for 2025–26 vis-à-vis 2015–16 are provided in the Annexure.
Increased MSP has benefited farmers of the country which are evident from data of procurement and MSP amount paid to the farmers. The details of procurement and MSP amount paid to farmers during 2024-25 (Crop Year) are given in the Table.
