Industry Specific ComplianceThe Tea Board, India, on December 08, 2025, issued a notification regarding directions to Tea Manufacturers under the Tea (Marketing) Control Order, 2003.

The following has been stated: -

•The Central Government has issued strict directions to tea manufacturers in West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand to ensure timely and fair payment to green leaf suppliers. 

•Manufacturers must maintain a daily register of suppliers, quantities, and fine leaf count, conducted using the ballometric method in the supplier’s presence, with signatures from both parties. 

•The register must be made available for inspection by Tea Board officers at any time. 

•Non-compliance will attract action under Clause 5(1)(d) of the Tea (Marketing) Control Order, 2003, and the directions take immediate effect.
