The Lok Sabha on December 10, 2025, issued the Higher Education School, Graduate School and University (Freedom of Speech) Bill, 2024.
The following has been stated: -
•It’s a bill to make provision in relation to freedom of speech and academic freedom in Higher Education Schools, Graduate Schools, Universities, other educational institutions, and in students’ unions and for matters connected therewith.
•Section 2 lays down various definitions of the terms, like the appropriate Government and the Graduate School.
•Section 3 specifies the Duty to take steps to secure freedom of speech.
•Section 5 specifies the Constitution of the governing body.
