The Lok Sabha on December 10, 2025, issued the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Amendment) Bill, 2024, further to amend the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960.
The following has been stated: -
•In section 12, for the words “one thousand rupees”, the words “fifty thousand rupees” shall be substituted.
•After section 13, the following section shall be inserted, namely: — 13A. (1) Whoever voluntarily has carnal intercourse against the order of nature with any animal shall be punished with imprisonment for life, or with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to ten years, and shall also be liable to fine.
•In section 20, for the words “two hundred rupees”, the word “one lakh rupees” shall be substituted.
