The Rajya Sabha on December 05, 2025, issued the Classified Information and Espionage Control Bill, 2025
The following has been stated: -
•The Bill creates a comprehensive legal framework for classifying, protecting, and managing sensitive national security information, regulating its authorised access, handling, and disclosure. It penalises unauthorised access and espionage, safeguards constitutional rights, ensures transparency, and repeals the Official Secrets Act, 1923.
•Section 2 lays down various definitions of terms like classified information and espionage.
•Section 3 specifies the classification protocol.
•Section 4 specifies Declassification and Review.
