The Commercial Taxes Department, Government of Andhra Pradesh, on December 10, 2025, notified regarding the authorization for Voluntary Aadhaar Authentication for GST and Profession Tax Services.
The following has been stated namely: -
• The Central Government has authorised it to implement Aadhaar authentication under the Aadhaar Authentication for Good Governance Rules, 2020 and the Aadhaar Act, 2016, for providing secure online access to GST and Profession Tax services.
• Aadhaar authentication will be offered voluntarily using Yes/No authentication for services such as registration, return filing, payments, and grievance redressal. The Department shall obtain consent from Aadhaar number holders and ensure that no service is denied to any taxpayer who refuses or is unable to undergo Aadhaar authentication, by providing alternate identification, such as PAN.
