The School Education and Sports Department, Government of Maharashtra on December 09, 2025, notified regarding the extension of the “Joyful Saturday” initiative being implemented in all schools of the State Board.
The following has been stated namely: -
• The Government has issued a resolution to extend and implement the “Ananddayi Shanivar (Joyful Saturday)” initiative across all State Board schools. Under this initiative, Saturdays will be devoted to experiential, co-curricular, cultural, sports, and life-skills activities instead of regular classroom teaching.
• The programme aims to promote holistic development, creativity, mental well-being, and social skills among students from Classes I to VIII.
• Schools are required to prepare activity plans, involve local resources, and ensure active student participation.
• The Education Department will monitor implementation to ensure effective execution of the initiative statewide.
