The Lok Sabha on December 05, 2025, issued the Floriculture Board of India Bill, 2024.
The following has been stated namely: -
• The Bill proposes the establishment of a National Floriculture Board under the Central Government to promote and develop floriculture across India, recognising it as a sunrise agricultural sector.
• The Board will be a body corporate with members drawn from Parliament, the Union Ministry of Agriculture, State governments, farmer organisations, and floriculture experts, with its headquarters in Chikkaballapur, Karnataka, and regional offices as needed.
• It is mandated to formulate schemes, recommend export procedures, conduct market research, and support the growth and marketing of ornamental plants and related products.
• A National Floriculture Board Fund will be created to finance salaries, operations, welfare measures for floriculture farmers, and other authorised purposes.
• The Board shall prepare annual budgets and reports, which will be submitted to the Central Government and laid before Parliament, and the Government is empowered to make rules and regulations for implementation.
