The Government of Himachal Pradesh on December 04, 2025, issued a notification regarding the e-Rickshaw permits (Passenger) under contract carriage permits.
The grant of e-Rickshaw permits under contract carriage permits, shall be, subject to following conditions, namely:-
• That only e-Rickshaws shall be permitted for new registration in these Sub-Divisions/areas.
• That plying of Auto-Rickshaw/e-Rickshaw in rest of the sub-divisions of the State will remain prohibited. However, this prohibition shall not be applicable to the Auto Rickshaws already plying on the basis of valid permit in the state.
• That the area of operation for each e- Auto Rickshaw registered/authorized under this notification shall be restricted to a radius of 20 (Twenty) kilometers from the Headquarters of the concerned Sub-Division in which such registration/authorization are granted.
• That once the e-Auto Rickshaw is registered or authorized for operation under a particular Sub-Division, the Headquarters so assigned shall remain fixed and shall not be altered, shifted or changed under any circumstances. The vehicle shall operate strictly within the jurisdictional limits of that Sub-Division and any operation beyond the prescribed radius shall be treated as a violation of the provisions of this notification and the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
This notification shall come into force from December 04, 2025.
