The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on December 11, 2025, issued the Reserve Bank of India (Rural Co-operative Banks – Credit Risk Management) – Amendment Directions, 2025.
The following has been stated namely: -
• Chapter IVA which states “Maintenance of Cash Credit Accounts, Current Accounts and Overdraft Accounts by Banks” has been inserted, this states the following: -
o Cash Credit Accounts
o Current Accounts and OD Accounts
o Collection Accounts
o Exemptions
o Compliance Monitoring
This shall come into force on April 01, 2026. Banks may however decide to implement the amendments in entirety from an earlier date.
