The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) on December 11, 2025, issued the notification regarding the Implementation of Code on Social Security, 2020.
The following has been stated namely: -
• The Code on Social Security, 2020 has been implemented nationwide with effect from November 21, 2025, consolidating social security laws and extending medical and financial security benefits to employees across all establishments.
• Registration with Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) is mandatory for all establishments meeting the prescribed criteria, including educational and medical institutions.
• Establishments must register themselves and all eligible employees under ESIC and ensure timely compliance so employees can avail benefits under the Code.
• The new definition of wages for ESIC coverage includes Basic Pay + Dearness Allowance (DA) + Retaining Allowance (if any) only.
• Employers are urged to complete registration promptly through the Shram Suvidha Portal or ESIC Employer Portal, as the SPREE deadline is December 31, 2025.
