The Wangoi Municipal Council (WMC), on December 05, 2025, issued a public notification proposing the adoption of the Model Manipur Unified Building Bye-Laws, 2024 as the Wangoi Municipal Council Building Bye-Laws, 2025. The proposal has been made pursuant to Resolution No. 1 passed in the Council meeting held on the same date and in exercise of powers conferred under Sections 211(1) and 212 of the Manipur Municipalities Act, 1994. The adoption is proposed to take effect from the date of publication in the Official Gazette of Manipur.
The Model Manipur Unified Building Bye-Laws, 2024, notified earlier by the Government of Manipur, are intended to provide a uniform and standardized regulatory framework for building construction and development within municipal areas. By proposing their adoption, the Wangoi Municipal Council aims to ensure consistency in planning norms, building standards, and regulatory processes within its jurisdiction, in line with state-level urban development objectives.
The notification invites objections or suggestions from the general public, which may be submitted to the Municipal Council within seven working days from the date of notification. Copies of the proposed Wangoi Municipal Council Building Bye-Laws, 2025 are available for inspection at the office of the Municipal Council during working hours and are also accessible on the official website of the Town Planning Department, Manipur, ensuring transparency and public participation in the rule-making process.
