The Government of Nagaland, on September 15, 2025, notified regarding the directions for Mandatory Use of Energy-Efficient Lighting, Appliances and Solar Water Heating Systems for Energy Conservation.
The following directions for efficient use of energy and its conservation in the State of Nagaland, namely:
• Mandatory use of energy efficient Light Emitting Diode (LED) lamps/tube lights and Brushless Direct Current (BLDC) fans proposed for the following categories of Consumers:
• New Central or State Government Establishments ie, Government Schools, Hospitals etc and all Public Sector Undertakings or establishments.
• For existing consumers of this category, only replacement of defective appliances is mandated to be made with energy efficient LEDs and fans
• New electrical consumers in Industrial, Commercial and Institutional Sectors having connected load of 50 kw or above
• For existing consumers of this category, all conventional lighting are mandated to be replaced with LED lamps, tube lights. BLDC fans or energy efficient lighting system within one year from the date of notification at their own expense.
• Mandatory use of Solar Water Heating Systems is proposed for the following categories:
• New Central or State Government establishments i.e. Government Schools, Hospitals etc and all Public Sector Undertakings or establishments.
