The Ministry of Labour and Employment (MoLE) on December 15, 2025, notified regarding the declaration of Banking Services as a Public Utility Service for a further Six Months.
The Central Government has extended the declaration of banking services as a public utility service under the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947, in the public interest. The earlier declaration, effective from June 15, 2025, is now extended for a further six months from December 15, 2025. This ensures continuity of essential banking services and enables the application of special dispute-resolution provisions under the Act during the extended period.
