The Government of Haryana, on December 16, 2025, issued a notification declaring the list of Public Holidays for the calendar year 2026 to be observed in all Public Offices under the Haryana Government. The holidays are categorized and notified under Schedule-I (Gazetted Holidays), Schedule-II (Restricted Holidays), and Schedule-III (Holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881). Festivals and occasions falling on already closed days have been excluded from the list of public holidays.
As per the notification, Schedule-II (Restricted Holidays) provides a list of optional holidays, from which all employees, including outsourced employees, are permitted to avail any three holidays of their choice during the year 2026. This provision offers flexibility to employees to observe festivals or occasions of personal, religious, or regional significance, subject to administrative convenience.
Further, Schedule-III specifies holidays to be observed as Public Holidays under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, applicable across the State of Haryana except Judicial Courts. The notification ensures clarity for government offices, banks, and commercial establishments regarding statutory holidays in 2026, facilitating effective administrative planning and uniform observance across the State.
