The Government of Madhya Pradesh, on December 15, 2025, issued amendments to the Madhya Pradesh Bhumi Vikas Niyam, 2012.
The following has been stated: -
•In Rule 5, a new sub-rule (6) is substituted to define norms and incentives for energy-efficient, environment-friendly green buildings as detailed in Appendix M.
•In the amendment, Green buildings certified by GRIHA, IGBC, or LEED are eligible for additional FAR—3% for Gold/4-Star level and 5% for Platinum/5-Star level certifications.
Compliance with ECSBC (commercial) or Eco Niwas Samhita (residential) is mandatory, and applicants must declare the intended certification at the building permission stage.
•Only one certification incentive can be claimed, and completion/occupancy certificates depend on actual compliance, with penalties for failed or lower-than-declared certification.
•New rules also mandate cool and green roofs as per the Cooling Action Plan provisions of the Model Building Bye-laws.
