The following has been stated: -
•The Seeds Bill, 2025, has been drafted to modernize seed regulation after consultations with stakeholders, including farmers’ organizations.
•It safeguards farmers’ rights to grow, save, exchange, and sell farm-saved seeds, excluding farmers’ and traditional varieties from its scope.
•The Bill introduces compulsory registration, labelling, price regulation in emergencies, and quality standards to ensure reliable seeds for farmers.
