The Government of Maharashtra on December 12, 2025, issued the Minimum Wages (Maharashtra Amendment) Act, 2025, to further amend the Minimum Wages Act, 1948.
The following has been stated namely: -
• Section 22 which states “Penalties for certain offences” clause (b) has been substituted to state namely: -
“contravenes any rule or order made under section 13, shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to five years, or with fine which may extend to ten thousand rupees, or with both.
• Under Section 22-B the following section shall be inserted: -
“Notwithstanding anything contained in the Indian Civil Security Code, 2023, the offences under section 22 of this Act shall be cognizable and non-bailable."
This shall come into force on December 12, 2025.
