The Government of Maharashtra, on December 12, 2025, issued the Maharashtra Employees’ Responsibility, Accountability and Standards relating to Care of Parents Bill, 2025.
The following has been stated namely: -
• Upon receipt of an application from dependent parents or a dependent brother/sister with disability, the designated authority shall determine the eligibility of such claim and, after providing a reasonable opportunity to both the applicant and the concerned employee to present their case, shall dispose of the application within a maximum period of 90 days from the date of receipt of the application.
• If the designated authority considers it appropriate, it may, within the period of 90 days referred to in section 7, grant approval for the apportionment of the employee’s pay, in respect of an application made by the employee’s dependent parents or dependent brother/sister with disability. From the month following the date of such order, the apportioned amount shall be paid directly on a monthly basis to the dependent parents or dependent brother/sister with disability, and the concerned Drawing and Disbursing Officer shall be directed accordingly.
• Provided that, such apportioned amount shall not exceed 20 per cent of the total monthly salary payable to the employee.
• Provided further that, only in exceptional cases, such total amount may extend up to 25 per cent of the employee’s monthly salary.
