The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers (MoC&F) on December 16, 2025, notified regarding the Manufacturing and innovation of medical devices.
The following has been stated namely: -
• It states that the Government of India’s PLI Scheme for Promoting Domestic Manufacturing of Medical Devices aims to attract large investments and build robust local manufacturing capacity for high-end devices, making products about 10–30% cheaper compared to imports and reducing healthcare costs.
• The scheme supports the establishment of medical device parks in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu, offering subsidised land, stamp duty concessions, and shared infrastructure to lower capital and operating costs for manufacturers.
• These parks provide common facilities such as 3D design, testing labs, biocompatibility and sterilisation centres, significantly reducing per-unit production and validation costs for MSMEs.
• Capacity building is being addressed through approved degree and short-term programmes to train skilled personnel, with around 750 seats planned and 187 enrolled in the first session.
• Additionally, the Promotion of Research in Pharma-Medtech Sector (PRIP) scheme has been launched to financially support R&D projects, foster industry-academia collaboration, and strengthen innovation in priority MedTech areas.
