The Government of Maharashtra on December 12, 2025, issued the Maharashtra Homoeopathic Medical Practitioners (Amendment) Bill, 2025 to further amend the Maharashtra Holistic Medical Practitioners Act, 1959.
The following amendments have been stated:
• In section 20 of the Maharashtra Holistic Medical Practitioners Act, 1959, in sub-section (12), in clause (a), for the text that he shall practice only in the Holistic medical system, the following text shall be inserted:-
"And he shall deal mainly in the homeopathic system of medicine and only in other essential medicines which are included in the list of medicines prescribed by the World Health Organization as essential for primary health care, prepared under the scheme of "Health for All by the Year 2000" and included in the Third Schedule to this Act."
