Industry Specific ComplianceThe Ministry of External Affairs (MoEA) on December 17, 2025, notified regarding the extension Customs Act, 1962, and the Customs Tariff Act, 1975, to India’s Continental Shelf and Exclusive Economic Zone for Offshore Mineral Activities.

The following has been stated namely: -

• The Government has extended the applicability of the Customs Act, 1962 and the Customs Tariff Act, 1975, to India’s continental shelf and Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) under powers conferred by the Territorial Waters, Continental Shelf, EEZ and Other Maritime Zones Act, 1976. 

• This extension applies to activities related to the reconnaissance, exploration and production of minerals carried out under operating rights granted under the Offshore Areas Mineral (Development and Regulation) Act, 2002. 

• It also covers the supply of goods connected with such offshore mineral activities.
