The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution (MoCFPD) on December 03, 2025, issued the notification regarding the ePOS Device Specifications for FPS Automation.
The following has been stated namely: -
• The Department has finalized revised minimum technical specifications for e-PoS devices under SMART-PDS.
• The revisions include dropping SI. Nos. 16, 23, 26, and 27, and modifying SI. Nos. 14 and 15 of the earlier e-PoS specifications.
• The revised specs are minimum requirements; States/UTs may add enhanced features and are encouraged to integrate IRIS scanners and electronic weighing scales. Central Assistance norms under NFSA remain unchanged.
