The Government of Rajasthan on December 18, 2025, issued the Rajasthan Shops and Commercial Establishments (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025, further to amend the Rajasthan Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1958.
The following has been stated namely: -
• In the definition of “apprentice” in section 2, the existing expression “a person, aged not less than twelve years”, shall be substituted with the expression “a person, aged not less than fourteen years”.
• In section 7 (1), for the existing expression “nine hours”, the expression “ten hours” shall be substituted.
• In section 7 (2), for the existing expression “twelve and fifteen”, the expression “fourteen and eighteen” shall be substituted.
• In section 9, for the existing word “five”, wherever occurring, the word “six” shall be substituted.
• In section 21, for the existing word “twelve”, the word “fourteen” shall be substituted.
• In section 22, for the existing expression “child between the ages of 12 and 15”, the expression “child between the ages of fourteen and eighteen” shall be substituted.
