The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) on December 18, 2025, notified regarding the amendment in Import Policy Condition of Specific items covered under Chapter 29 of ITC (HS) 2022, Schedule-I (Import Policy).
The following has been stated namely: -
• It has amended the import policy conditions under Chapter 29 of ITC (HS) 2022, imposing import restrictions up to November 30, 2026, on diluted Potassium Clavulanate, Potassium Clavulanate, and specified intermediates when imported below prescribed CIF value thresholds.
• The amendment aims to regulate low-priced imports of these pharmaceutical inputs to protect domestic manufacturers.
• Exemptions have been provided for Advance Authorisation holders, EOUs, and SEZ units, subject to the condition that such imports are not diverted to the Domestic Tariff Area (DTA).
• Corresponding changes have also been made to multiple ITC (HS) codes to align them with the revised policy condition.
