The National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB) on December 11, 2025, issued a notification regarding the Central Sector Scheme for Conservation, Development, and Sustainable Management of Medicinal Plants.
The following has been stated: -
•The Ministry of Ayush’s scheme, implemented through the National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB), provides 100% central assistance for in-situ and ex-situ conservation, cultivation, research, infrastructure, and awareness initiatives on medicinal plants.
•It covers support for MPCDAs, nurseries, herbal gardens, post-harvest and marketing infrastructure, quality testing, certification, and capacity building of farmers and institutions.
•Detailed cost norms, eligible components, and assistance patterns are prescribed, including special provisions for States, UTs, and North-Eastern States.
•The scheme also outlines formats for integrated project proposals and an indicative list of priority medicinal plant species for quality planting material.
