Commercial ComplianceThe Government of Andhra Pradesh, on October 28, 2025, issued a Preliminary Notification proposing amendments to Schedule XII of the Andhra Pradesh Legal Metrology (Enforcement) Rules, 2011, in exercise of powers under Section 53 of the Legal Metrology Act, 2009.

The proposed amendment seeks to revise the compounding fees for various offences committed under the Legal Metrology Act by substituting the existing provisions relating to Rule 27, which governs the fee for compounding of offences, with a revised Schedule XII. The draft amendments have been published for the information of stakeholders likely to be affected.

The Government has invited objections and suggestions from the public, which may be submitted within 15 days from the date of publication of the notification in the Andhra Pradesh Gazette. Representations are to be addressed to the Commissioner and Ex-Officio Secretary to Government, Consumer Affairs, Food & Civil Supplies Department, Andhra Pradesh, and will be duly considered before finalisation of the amendments.
