Industry Specific ComplianceThe Government of Jammu & Kashmir, on December 22, 2025, notified regarding the Dairy Units engaged in sale of milk and milk products through vending/kiosk machines and similar dispensing systems to strengthen food safety compliance.

The following has been stated namely: -

• Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) encourages the Food Business Operators (FBOs) engaged in the sale of milk and milk products through temporary or fixed vending machines, kiosks, and similar dispensing systems to adopt measures to achieve an appropriate level of protection of human life and health and the protection of consumer’s interests, including fair practices in all kinds of food trade with reference to food safety standards and practices. 

• To curb adulteration in milk and milk products in the country, compliance by dairy manufacturers involved in the sale of packaged/fresh milk & milk products through such manual/ automated dispensing systems becomes crucial for ensuring safety, quality and standard of dairy products. Accordingly, FSSAI has issued an directives to all dairy manufacturers who are involved in sale of milk/milk products through vending/kiosk machine to keep or make available; FSSAIapproved/validated rapid test kits at the vending/kiosk location for basic detection of common adulterants in milk/milk products, to ensure food safety, consumer confidence & interests, transparency and to encourage participatory food safety culture in the country.
