Labour ComplianceThe Government of Uttarakhand on December 24, 2025, notified regarding the Declaration of Public Holidays for the year 2026.

The following has been stated namely: -

• The notification provides a detailed list of gazetted public holidays (Schedule-1) covering national, religious, and regional festivals, along with corresponding Gregorian and Shaka Samvat dates and weekdays. 

• Certain holidays in Schedule 2 are applicable statewide but will be treated as restricted holidays for the Secretariat, Legislative Assembly, and offices following a five-day work week. Employees are allowed to avail of any two restricted holidays from the notified list (Schedule 3) as per the rules. 

• Separate provisions clarify that banks, treasuries, and sub-treasuries will observe holidays as notified under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 (Schedule-4), and festivals marked with an asterisk will be observed based on local moon sighting.
