The Government of Jammu & Kashmir, on December 24, 2025, issued a circular regarding the installation of Smart Meter under RDSS.
The following has been stated: -
•Timely payment of electricity dues is essential for the financial stability of power utilities and ensuring a 24×7 reliable power supply.
•Under RDSS, JKPDD/DISCOMs are installing prepaid smart meters to reduce AT&C losses and improve efficiency across all consumer categories.
•All Government establishments, local bodies, and residential colonies are advised to install prepaid smart meters in coordination with JPDCL/KPDCL as per guidelines.
•Departments must expedite installation, make budget provisions under Head 008 – Electricity Charges, and project any additional requirements separately.
