The Labour Welfare and Skill Development, Govt. of Tamil Nadu on October 06, 2025, issued the amendment to the Inter-State Migrant Workmen (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) (Tamil Nadu) Rules, 1983.
The following has been amended, namely: -
• The amendments primarily revise provisions relating to registration of establishments and licensing of contractors, including changes in the fee structure to reflect present-day administrative requirements.
• Certain rules and prescribed forms have been modified to simplify procedures, improve clarity, and ensure uniform compliance across establishments.
• Overall, the amendments aim to strengthen regulatory oversight, enhance transparency in implementation, and align the State rules more closely with the objectives of the central legislation governing migrant workmen.
