The Ministry of Power (MoP) on December 29, 2025, issued the notification regarding the Mandatory Energy Labelling for Vapour Compression Chillers Used for Space Cooling
The following has been stated namely: -
• The Central Government, under the Energy Conservation Act, 2001, has issued a new notification superseding the earlier notification dated September 18, 2023, in consultation with the Bureau of Energy Efficiency.
• The notification covers vapour compression type chillers used for space cooling, operating up to 250V (single-phase) and 415V (three-phase) power supply.
• All such chillers manufactured or imported for sale in India must display energy-related particulars on labels, as prescribed under the Act and relevant regulations.
