The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying (MoFAHD), on December 26, 2025, issued the Veterinary Council of India (Foreign Veterinary Graduate Registration) Rules, 2025.
The following has been stated namely: -
• Prohibition of practising veterinary medicine without the acquisition of a degree and registration:-
• No person shall practice veterinary medicine in India, without acquiring a degree in Bachelor of Veterinary Science or Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, from a University or institution specified in the Second Schedule.
• No person shall practice veterinary medicine in India without registration as an Indian veterinary practitioner, under the provisions of Chapter III of the Act.
