The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, Govt. of Gujarat on December 29, 2025, notified regarding the Public Holidays for the Year 2026.
The following has been stated namely: -
• It has issued a circular declaring the list of public holidays for the calendar year 2026 applicable to AMC offices and establishments. The circular specifies 24 public holidays, covering major national festivals, religious occasions, and birth anniversaries of eminent leaders such as Republic Day, Independence Day, Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti.
• It clarifies that certain festivals falling on Sundays or second/fourth Saturdays shall not be treated as additional public holidays.
• Separate departmental or optional holidays have been notified for specific communities, including Christian, Parsi, Maharashtrian, and Jain employees.
• The circular also provides that Muslim employees may be granted optional leave on the actual day of observance if the festival does not coincide with the declared holiday.
