Industry Specific ComplianceThe Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on January 13, 2026, issued an advisory to Students regarding verification of Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) to avoid admission in fake universities.

The following has been stated namely: -

• It has issued an advisory, based on a communication from the UGC, to caution students and parents against taking admission in fake or unrecognized universities for the Academic Session 2026–27. UGC regularly publishes and updates the list of fake and unrecognized Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) on its official website to protect students’ academic and professional interests. 

• CBSE has directed all affiliated schools to counsel Class X and XII students and their parents about the risks of fake universities, advise them to verify the recognition status of HEIs on the UGC website, and widely disseminate this advisory through notice boards, school websites, circulars, and PTMs, ensuring admissions are sought only in UGC-recognized institutions.
